1.
Wandering in a line, sun is low and it's there It's the day, time to go So far to go for us Oyamel, you will see them, I will get you there To the sky, we can make it How do you know it's time, how do you think you'll find Your way across the sky to the Oyamel Some type of telepathy, is speaking straight to me I think it's leading you too, to the Oyamel I can see fields of gold, keep you on my wing Now the sun getting higher, not far to go from here We'll just stop for a minute And fly to the Oyamel, fly to the Oyamel All of the miles how'd you know this was here? Sitting in trees with so many like me
2.
We woke up, it was dust Day or night, the same light Evidence, this had happened before Consequence, in the blink of an eye It's New Year's Day in a different age don't you think? Time's gone by, another midnight, have a drink Have a drink on me
3.
We Go Around 05:01
What is it that you see when you tilt your head up towards the sky? Is it anything besides the halo of reflected light? We used to travel the world by looking up at all the stars Now we follow roads and the tail lights of the other cars We go around, we go around cataloguing all the things we found Moving on after we put it down a caravan to another sound We go around, around we go relearning lessons on the things we know Legitimized on a broadcast screen never mind what it means We go around, we go around another reaction to what they found How could someone make that mistake? A running tab on everything they take We go around, we go around, finding conclusions that stay in bounds Theory tells us what we'll observe, then we engineer in reverse We go around
4.
I waited so long, calculated but wrong still Formulaic and ancient, what would you do if I sent it back? Send it back, send it back Take the whole stack, I should send it back Back, send it back, send it back Burn up the map, I should send it back Special attention and messed with Maybe I should have just stuck with it Unexpected part of the order What would you do if I sent it back? Still thinking, don't know, don't know If I should send it back
5.
I could freeze to death, I could freeze to death When the fuel is all gone, I could freeze to death Sometimes the ice ain't thick, but we walk on it Sometimes the ice ain't thick I'm not finished yet, we just met I'm not finished yet To take that chance, no longer makes any sense A different mind left to take in the world To know this then, blissfully unaware It's a one way street, time to leave I don't see it that way, though I see your dismay I don't see it that way I could burn alive, I could burn alive Staring at the sun I could burn alive
6.
The river's running backwards like what happened at Madrid The ground is always moving and violently it did The schedule of 'Old Faithfull portends of what's to come The heat and the steam will return to the sun, sun Return to the sun To go blinded by a flash of light, the irony of the brightest night To the future of another time, right on time Accelerate into the sun, shot from a magnetic gun Realize this is the one, return to the sun Caught up in all the shaking, each and everything Return to the sun Reversing the rotation, all the energy Return to the sun Let's go, return to the sun
7.
We left in the morning, all of us did Already knowing where we had to get Born with the knowledge, remember somehow When to get going starting right now A home at the top of the world, follow the path of the sun Generations, saw these places At the top of the world Up in the clouds, a winter to dwell Sound of the rain, sheltered so well

about

This is my second release as The Beard Police. I recorded and produced this collection of rock songs in my basement(s). Like my last release, I got help from Jim Cooley (production, drums, sax) and Gaetano Nicolosi (drums).

I am inspired by movement. When I run (rarely currently) my mind jumps from topic to topic in between obsessively checking my time. Always racing against that clock. When I drive a car I have nothing but ideas in between wishing I was the only one on the road, checking my average speed, and/or average miles per gallon. I am biased by my own experience, but like sharks (who need movement to breathe generally) humans are well served by moving. By the laws of nature time slows down as a function of increased speed or vice versa. I like the idea of having more time, so I endeavor to keep moving.

I wrote and recorded these songs independent of the idea of movement or migration, but as I thought more about how I think and what I think about I noticed a common thread thematically in these songs that linked back to what I think might be one of my motivations or instincts or tendencies, to keep moving. I recently pondered the Canadian Goose relative to my life. In my lifetime (born in the early 70’s) they have gone from being near extinct to near ubiquitous (like raccoons, or deer, or squirrels) in suburbia and deemed a “nuisance” bird by some. State and municipal governments have launched arms dedicated to answering the pleas of concerned property owners. Why? Because many, if not most, of the Canadian Geese so well adapted to modern America are non-migratory. Why? Because they were bred from captive stock generations past in an effort to save the species and have no idea that migration is even a thing. If the water don't freeze, the goose don't leave. Are they a nuisance because they no longer migrate? Perhaps you gotta keep moving or you become a nuisance, or worse, maybe even boring.

Gear I used: Strat, Reverend Double Agent OG, Blueridge BR-180, Squire J-Bass, Fender Deluxe Reverb, Peavey Classic 20 Mini, Mesa Boogie 1 X 12”, Truetone Jekyll and Hyde, Truetone Clean Boost, Boss DD-3, Xotic AC Booster, Shure SM57, Sennheiser MD421, AKG C214, Studio Projects T3, Universal Audio Apollo Twin, Garageband, isolation cabinet for my guitar speaker to control volume whilst living in a townhouse.
